Accessibility statement

Last updated October 24, 2026.

VisitorDesk AI is a chat assistant that chambers of commerce, visitor bureaus and towns add to their websites. Everyone visiting those sites should be able to use it, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification or high-contrast settings. This statement covers the chat widget your visitors see and this website, visitordesk.ai.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice’s ADA Title II rule sets for state and local government websites, including tools like ours that a government adds to its site.

What the chat widget does

  • Everything works from the keyboard. Escape closes the chat and returns you to the button that opened it.
  • Screen readers hear each answer once it is complete, rather than in pieces as it is written.
  • Focus stays where you are working when suggestions or forms appear and go away, and the focus outline stays visible in every color and theme.
  • Text on a customer’s brand color is always adjusted to stay readable, whatever color they choose.
  • The chat still works when the page is zoomed to 400%, and it follows your device’s reduced-motion setting.
  • Form fields have visible labels, and if something needs fixing, the message appears next to that field.

How we test

Every change to the widget and this website is checked automatically against WCAG 2.1 A and AA before it can be released. The checks cover the chat in every look a customer can choose (light and dark themes, custom colors and fonts) at desktop, phone and zoomed sizes, plus keyboard and focus behavior. Automated checks can’t find every problem, so we are adding hand testing with screen readers, and reports from people who use the chat matter most of all.

Known limits

  • When the assistant answers in a language other than English, the answer isn’t yet marked with its language, so a screen reader may pronounce it in English.
  • Answers can link to businesses’ and organizations’ own websites, which we don’t control.
  • The signed-in dashboard our customers use isn’t yet covered by our automated checks to the same degree as the chat.

For towns and public agencies

If you are evaluating VisitorDesk AI for an ADA Title II accessibility plan, email us for the details of our testing and for help with your procurement questions.

Report a problem

If something in the chat or on this site is hard to use, email info@visitordesk.ai. Tell us the website you were on, what you were trying to do, and, if you use one, your browser and assistive technology. Our team will reply within one day. If the problem stops you getting information you need, tell us what you were looking for and we’ll get it to you another way while we fix it.
